The DEVOted Gear Daddies gathered in the summer of 2013 to form an adult team as part of a fundraising event for the New Mexico FIRST LEGO League. The Gear Daddies, made up of Earl Moore , Brad Swardson and Zac Van Note (with extra support from Lori Van Note and Nara Thacher) won top honors at the 1st New Mexico FLL Adult Tournament Fundraiser with a score of 200 out of 400 possible points.

The event was held in conjunction with Adult Night at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (NMMNHS) on August 9, 2013. The event had an 80’s theme, so the team went all in, dubbing themselves the DEVOted Gear Daddies after the popular 80’s band Devo. It was a great chance for adults to work as a team and experience all the challenges and pressure the kids feel in the real competition.

We’ll just have to wait and see what 2014 holds in store for the Gear Daddies!
