The Gear Kids have been participating in Junior FIRST LEGO League since the Fall of 2012. In 2012-2013, three girls and three boys participated. In 2013-2014, one member will graduate to FLL, and it looks like we’ll have several returning team members along with a couple new faces. On January 26, 2013, the Gear Kids competed in the Jr. FLL New Mexico Expo. They did a great job and won the “Inquiring Minds Award”.

The Gear Girls mentored the Gear Kids’ Jr. FLL Super Seniors Challenge team and will be helping out with the team again in 2013-2014. Setting up this new team and mentoring them throughout the season was the primary service project the girls took on for their Girl Scout Silver Award. All of the girls in Troop 5123 earned their Silver Award in 2013.

The Gear Kids are ready to take on the Disaster Blaster challenge and will start meeting again on September 8, 2013.
